About Us

Founded in 2024 by Mrs. Consolata Katua Okech, Kenya Union of Professional Secretaries and Executive Assistants (KUPSEA) was born out of her 16 years of experience as the Personal Secretary to the Secretary General of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET). Through her years in KUPPET, Mrs. Okech gained extensive expertise in member representation, advocacy for workers' rights, legal support, labor and employment laws, and welfare issues, all integral to the daily operations of a trade union. However, despite her deep involvement with these issues, she observed that the unique challenges faced by professionals in secretarial roles were often overlooked.

Mrs. Okech realized that if she, working within a union, encountered unresolved issues leading to burnout and frustration, then secretaries and administrative professionals in ordinary organizations would likely face even greater obstacles. This revelation sparked the foundation of KUPSEA — a dedicated union that serves as a strong, unified voice for the secretarial profession.

KUPSEA seeks to elevate and represent professional secretaries, office administrators, and executive assistants, providing them with the recognition and respect they deserve as essential, educated professionals who are the backbone of organizational success. These professionals manage vital responsibilities such as handling executive communications, maintaining critical links between management, staff, and stakeholders, and ensuring seamless coordination across departments.

Through KUPSEA, the secretarial profession no longer stands alone. By advocating for the unique needs and challenges of these roles, KUPSEA aims to transform the perception of the profession, ensuring these indispensable professionals receive fair representation, acknowledgment, and the support needed to thrive.
